2011 The New Orleans Conference

The New Orleans Conference 2011 was by all measure a success.

A total of 250 registrants including Perfusionists, Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Anesthetists and Nurses from 9 countries.

Rob Ballantyne, LP, CCP, director of extracorporeal technologies at Ochsner has accepted the post of Associate Program Director of The New Orleans Conference. Please join me in welcoming Rob to the team.

The 2012 Conference will be joint sponsored by Perfusion International, Louisiana Cardiovascular and Thoracic Institute and Ochsner Health.

The addition of LA CVT as a sponsor will increase substantially the timeliness of relevant cardiovascular surgical topics.

Dr. Leonard Bailey's presentation was powerful and provided insight into this man's incredible character. Perfusion International could not have chosen a more worthy recipient of the Achievement Award for 2011.

We will be adding information to the conference website soon for The New Orleans Conference 2012. Please join us in New Orleans to celebrate our 6th year.

2010 Award recipient Dr. John L. Ochsner presents the 2011 Award to Dr. Leonard. L. Bailey.

DeBakey Roller PumpThis award is in memory of Dr. Michael E. DeBakey for his work in the development of the roller pump while he was a medical student at Tulane in 1922. Though Dr. Gibbon’s work is well recognized as having been pivotal in the advancement of extracorporeal circulation, were in not for the early work of Dr. DeBakey and the development of the roller pump, Dr. Gibbons work may very well have been delayed.

The selection of the award recipient is based on life time achievement and the impact a person has had on the use of extracorporeal circulation and cardiac surgery.
